Farewell my summer garden. I never posted my garden pics this summer, because...well, it wasn’t really that exciting. My energy was put into the new garden fencing, chicken run and hen house. I did manage to experiment a bit. For my fellow garden nerds and to remind me for the future...My basil and lettuce did great in the greenhouse, as well as the cucumbers. The tomatoes were numerous, but I planted them too late so our first harvest was not until September. Overall, everything I planted from seed did amazing, except for the peppers. Now that the greenhouse is set up, I hope to start everything much earlier this winter. In the spring we will add more raised beds and get this garden crankin’. Overall, it was a good start and the greenhouse is holding temps, even with the nightly freeze. #mynorthidahogarden experiment continues!

Living in the woods is amazing, but the trees are so tall that I rarely ever see a sunset. So of course it was incredibly distracting to see this magnificent sky...I was trying to watch Lexi’s soccer game...but the sky was vying for my attention.

We found some country from Bama in our neck of the woods...just enough to let loose...happy birthday to my honey!

Today is Chris’ Birthday! I came downstairs to find a beautiful card on the table, written be our son. I teared up as I read how he hopes to one day be the same kind of father as Chris is. I can’t think of any greater compliment as a parent...then to have a child that recognizes your love, sacrifice and parenting and aspires to push repeat. Thank you Lord that I hit the jackpot in a husband and father for my children! This photo was taken last spring on a family hike. I remember stopping to watch in awe as my boy walked in stride, one step behind his daddy. The similarities were beyond words.

The autumn decor is up and my girls are laying. 18 eggs in two days...I’m a happy chicken mama. They are finally earning their keep around here.
